Texas' AED laws were originally written 20 years ago, shortly after Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) were invented. Senate Bill 199 modernizes these laws to incentivize businesses to deploy AEDs, and also to ensure that AEDs are ready for use.
SB199 takes effect Wednesday, Sept. 1. The bill improves the state’s AED laws in three ways:
