Thirty miles north of downtown Dallas, McKinney is a picturesque city with a small-town feel. McKinney has been named the Best Place to Live in America based on employment, schools, crime, community pride, and safety. With a 2019 population of nearly 190,000, McKinney is the 16th largest City in Texas, and the third-fastest-growing city in the United States.
The City of McKinney wanted to deploy AEDs in its public spaces and municipal buildings. The City needed a partner who could fully manage the program, including monthly AED checks to ensure compliance. The AED program needed to meet ADA building code requirements, and the City of McKinney wanted the program to tie in with its Ready to React emergency response training and bleeding control initiatives.
AED123 worked with city officials to implement a Full-Service AED plan that would meet all the City's Requirements. A custom cabinet was designed to meet ADA requirements, while including space for a bleeding control kit. 40 AEDs (see AED map) were installed at the City of McKinney's libraries, basketball courts, tennis courts, aquatic centers, golf course, boxing gym, performing arts center, and municipal buildings, including its city hall, courthouse, and fire stations. AED123's technicians check the City of McKinney's AEDs monthly to ensure they are ready for use so that the entire community is prepared if an AED is needed.
