The Boy Scouts of America is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States, with 2.3 million youth participants. Scouts are trained in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities and educational programs. Founded in 1910, approximately 110 million Americans have participated in BSA programs.
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) was committed to creating a safe environment for the millions of individuals who participate in scouting each year. The BSA needed an AED partner who could meet several requirements: 1) provide BSA councils and troops with AEDs, 2) provide seasonal AEDs to BSA camps, and 3) deploy more than 5 dozen AEDs at the World Scout Jamboree. The BSA needed a reliable partner who would deliver on all three fronts.
AED123 partnered with the BSA to create a custom AED program for BSA councils and troops – enabling purchase and seasonal rental of AEDs. 64 special-event AEDs were placed at the World Scout Jamboree, creating a safe environment for the 50,000 plus participants at the two-week long event, and plans are already underway to place AEDs at the 2021 National Jamboree. AED123 has also participated in several sudden cardiac arrest and AED awareness events for the BSA.
